SUMATIN returns for the Fourth Year Running

PRESS RELEASE

Over the years, we have remained committed to creating an interactive educational platform in our program SUMATIN for the young people in Lae, Morobe Province. Originally facilitated under our brand ‘Barata’, SUMATIN has successfully reached more than 300 young people through Secondary School debates, Primary School spelling bees and the popular Summit where we bring amazing young Papua New Guineans breaking barriers in their fields to Lae to share their stories with our youth, creating a peer to peer experience that incites positive change.

This year, KVL Studios is pleased to announce that SUMATIN will return on the 3rd – 5th of June in Lae, and will be centred on discussions around human rights and climate change.

The program will kick off with the Spelling Bee and Quiz for Primary Schools on the 3rd, which will see if a new winner emerges or The Salvation Army Lae Primary School retain their title.

New to the program line-up is Pitch, focused at stimulating the entrepreneurship mindset for Secondary School Students. Students will apply to pitch a business idea to a panel of judges that will include the purpose of the product or service, marketing techniques and how this product or service will help in upholding human rights. They will then receive feedback and pointers from our panel of judges to help them pursue their ideas and make them reality. Pitch now replaces the Debates part of SUMATIN.

The last day of SUMATIN will be the Summit, scheduled to take place at the Rose Kekedo Lecture Theatre at the PNG University of Technology. We have four exciting speakers for the summit, and in our efforts to integrate technology into the program, we will have one attend via video conference. We are also excited to announce a special guest speaker who will be coming from Brisbane, Australia to join the panel. These speakers will be announced in the coming weeks. The summit will be open to the general public, and tickets can be purchased for K5 only via our Facebook Page.

Support for the program from business houses and individuals are welcomed. You can reach out to us on email hello@kvlstudios.com for a copy of our event proposal or for more information on how you can be involved.

More information will be released via our social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram in coming weeks.
